SamySafari would like to give you here some additional information concerning our desert tours. You find here information about transportation possibilities to Bahariya and back. Furthermore, we have some information about the weather and tips about what clothes to wear. Additionally, you find a map of Egypt.

How to go to Bahariya:

Probably you realized that most of our desert tours are starting in the oasis Bahariya. This is not because we live in Bahariya but because Bahariya is the perfect starting point for trips to the Western Desert of Egypt.

You have the following options for travelling from Cairo to Bahariya:

1. Public Bus
Public Busses are leaving several times per day from Cairo to Bahariya. They are starting from Midan Turgoman (Turgoman square) close to Midan Ramsis (Ramsis square). After 20 to 30 minutes the bus arrives at Midan Mouneeb (Mouneeb square) in Gise under the brigde, where you could also get in. We recommend taking the bus at 7am or at 8am (from Midan Turgoman). After around 5 hours you will arrive in Bawiti, Bahariya. On the way to Bahariya the bus stops once at a rest house for a 20 to 30 minutes break. A ticket for the bus costs LE 20 (around € 3). We recommend to buy tickets one or two days before travelling.

2. Microbus
If you cant get tickets for a public bus you could take a public microbus. They are starting from Midan Mouneeb, Gise, under the bridge. Microbusses are leaving as soon as they are full (every microbus has 14 seats). If you want to have some more comfort you could just take 2 seats for one person. A seat costs LE 20 (around € 3).

3. Rent a microbus
The most comfortable way to Bahariya is renting a microbus including driver. We would be happy to organize a microbus which comes to your hotel or appartment in Cairo and takes you directly to Bahariya. One microbus can take 14 people and costs LE 250 (around € 35).

For going back from Bahariya (or Dakhla or Siwa) to Cairo or Luxor you have the same possiblilites as mentioned above. Normally we try to finish our tours at times where it is easy for you to catch a public bus. Also, we could organize a microbus for you which brings you back directly to your hotel or appartment in Cairo. To rent a microbus including driver from Bahariya to Cairo costs LE 250 (around € 3); from Dakhla to Luxor LE 500 (around € 70); from Siwa, passing Marsa Matrouh to Cairo LE 700 (around € 85).
